Production Blog - Film Day

Image
Of course, the first step of starting the filming process is to head to the location were filming at. Which in this case was the mall. When I arrived, I met up with my group in the food court and talked about what we wanted to do and decided to start with the scene of the actors walking into the mall. Which we filmed a few times to get the perfect shot. This is because the actors didn't seem natural enough with their movements at first. But we persevered. Next, we entered the mall to start filming the next few scenes. Though we weren't sure where exactly we wanted to film, we decided to just walk around the mall and see what shops would be nice. Which led us to find the perfect store. This being the statue shop you will scene in a scene during the music video. The vibe of the store was perfect. One thing to note is that the actors didn't know they were being filmed. Which allowed us the most natural performance. Then we headed over to the cuties stuff because there were ma

Production Blog - Editing Music Video

Image
The editing process didn't take nearly as long as I expected. But before I could start the camera person had to send me the clips that they recorded so I could get to work. These clips ended up being all the different scenes we filmed one that was all the scenes put together. When editing  I decided that some of the scenes filmed didn’t need to be included. This is because they didn’t fit the overall vibe of the video. Or because they were simply too short and irrelevant, so they were scrapped. When editing I took into account all of the filters and effects that would fit with the music video considering the theme of it. The theme of it being a goddess watching over two humans. So, I decided that whenever the goddess showed up there would be some sort of aura around her. One of the effects used to accomplish this was called vignette. This was used in the first scene the goddess appeared to establish her mystical presence. Another filter that was used on the goddess was called Ligh

Production Blog - Filming Scenes (prep day)

Before we can really start the filming process, we have to make sure the group has everything they need for the day of. For one making sure everyone we need can make it to film on the day planned. To ensure this we made sure to message anyone we needed for the process from camera person to actors and made sure they wouldn't have to flake day of. By doing this we'd be able to make sure the day of filming is smooth. Another thing we had to make sure was solid were the costumes and wardrobe. These were provided by Honey from a thrift store. The costumes were vital to filming because they helped create the aura of the video. So, wardrobe was also a top priority. As far as making sure the goddess wore something that fit the vibe of a goddess. We also had to make sure there wouldn't be a problem with filming at the mall. With a few calls we were able to make sure no disruptions would come our way the day of. Now we can bring the storyboard into how we want the video to look. Sinc

Production Blog - Storyboard Editing

Image
When interpreting the music videos storyboard, it was important that I'd be able to add my own editor's vision to it. This means that I would not only bringing the storyboard to life but enhancing it with my own ideas. Of course, I would be running some of these ideas through my group while taking charge on the rest of this process. The storyboard basically serves as an overall blueprint for the music video. This is because it outlines the sequence of the shots and scenes. Analyzing the storyboard, I can further understand the groups vision and turn it into a visually appealing piece. To analyze, I reviewed the storyboard and set a rough draft for how the camera angles, transitions in between the scenes, and more would come into play. These factors can set a mood for the emotions and vibe of the video. So, as the editor I wanted to stay open to the effects I can use without overdoing it. This is because the effects and filters will tie into the overall flow of the video. If the

A few days before filming I visited the mall to check out the setting. Mainly to see what the mall had to offer, for example spots we could film in. I scoped out a few different places we could film in. Macys being a store we picked because of it bright lights which create the perfect aura of a goddess watching over the shoppers. Another store I found (though I forgot the name) had the perfect ensemble of statues which perfectly executed the fantastical look. The store ending up being the perfect spot and find. The decision was also made that the front entrance of the mall would start out the music video. Another one of the locations we decided to film in was palm court (food area). Just for a brief moment that shows the mortals resting. The process of choosing actors was rocky but ended up being smooth at the end. We were able to recruit a friend play the brown-haired girl that the goddess was watching over, the black-haired girl being main actor as she is in our group. Of course, we

Story Board - Vision For The Music Video

Image
Shot 1: The character playing “god” or G watches characters A, B and C. It would cutaway from G to A, B, C; the whole thing would be at eye level. While it was drawn at full body, the three shot could be a medium long shot. Shot 2: This would be continuing from the three shot of A, B and C meeting a new person, character D to all of them going through some doors. This would be a tracking shot and at eye level. If you wanted you could make this one an over the shoulder shot (or D). Shot 3: G is getting up (from there sit at the end of a tree) to follow the quad. This would to from an eye level angle to a low angle. Other then that, everything stays the same. Shot 4: A jumpcut to inside the building, a mall where G watches (what looks to be) the camera. This is at a low angle, with a tiny zoom. This can be a medium long or medium shot. Shot 5: Long shot of where G is in comparison to A, B, C and D. This is right before either a cut or zoom into the next shot. Shot 6: A scene of A, B

Research - Music Video

Image
Hey, so today we needed to research a nit. For our research we chose I don't care by Violent Vira and Lolita by Violent Vira. I don't car starts as a tracking medium long shot. It then fades into a medium close up. During the medium long shot, we see the main female lead, played by Vira, having flashbacks. After the flashbacks it switches to a low medium shot then we see the male lead from a low medium close up showing how Vira is viewing him. Although she's viewing him from a lower angle, she sees him as someone who does not have a lot of dominance and someone she doesn't want to be with. This also shows a bit more of the storyline. We see Vira in a wedding dress and they're at a wedding chapel, however, she is having obvious doubts. It then pans out into a long shot, there is then a cutaway scene, showing Vira alone. Still seemingly contemplating everything. Throughout the entire video they mostly stick with long shots and medium long shots. Lolita has the same t

Group Blog: Choosing my Mates and Song

Image
To kickstart the process of my music video I of course had to find the people I wanted to work with. The people that I would be communicating with seeing outside of school and so on over the next few weeks. Something that wasn't too hard since it was pretty much a given that I would be working with the people I sit with. This is because it's much easier when u have your options right in front of you. These people being Honey, Alysse, and Mac. The three people I've sat with since the year started, so we have a decent knowing of each other. This being the main reason I chose to work with them. I felt it would be more beneficial to me to work with people I knew rather than strangers I would need to build a connection with as we progressed through the music video. Getting to know new people (as fun as it may be) a priority for this project. Now onto the process of choosing the song. Now, when I say process, I don't mean a long thought out one that would need deliberating t

Introduction Blog: IM BACK

Image
Hey, it's me Kaylee again I'm back and in case you forgot here is a bit about me. For starters I'm 15 and from Miami, Florida. I've always been a bit more on the creative side when it comes to my hobbies. Things like video games have always interested me. I got into them in elementary school and still haven't lost interest. This led me to build my own computer, so I also know a bit about tech (just a bit though). The plan is to start learning more about editing and finally use my very little knowledge of coding. I also got into origami in middle school though I don't really do it anymore I have a box of old things I made and will most likely dabble in origami here and then in the future. One of my most recent hobbies has been crocheting which I got into January 2023 because I was sick and bored. It's also something I want to make into a business. So enough with my hobbies considering I'm from Miami you may be wondering why I would go to a school. All the

Reflection

Image
Since I went into this project almost blind, I was able to learn a lot on the editing front. To start my process of learning this new side of technology I took advantage of YouTube and research different videos about cap cut. These videos mainly consisting of starter information on how to use the app. Overall the main technology I would I learned was cap cut. For my commercial I didn't utilize many other editing software's considering I'm newer. For caput I learned how to import screen recorded videos for sound. I also learned how to transition into different scenes/clips. During this project I learned that procrastination will only set me back in the long run. I need to more strictly follow the time frames appointed. To make my next project better I plan on practicing how to edit more. Also giving myself time to taking more time to look over each piece of media I use during planning. One mistake I made during this project was mixing up due dates which caused me to do some
