Production Blog - Mis-En-Scene

A few days before filming I visited the mall to check out the setting. Mainly to see what the mall had to offer, for example spots we could film in. I scoped out a few different places we could film in. Macys being a store we picked because of it bright lights which create the perfect aura of a goddess watching over the shoppers. Another store I found (though I forgot the name) had the perfect ensemble of statues which perfectly executed the fantastical look. The store ending up being the perfect spot and find. The decision was also made that the front entrance of the mall would start out the music video. Another one of the locations we decided to film in was palm court (food area). Just for a brief moment that shows the mortals resting. The process of choosing actors was rocky but ended up being smooth at the end. We were able to recruit a friend play the brown-haired girl that the goddess was watching over, the black-haired girl being main actor as she is in our group. Of course, we were able find other actors to play side characters in the music video. Sadly, there's always the chance that people may not be able to make it day of filming. The last decisions we had to make were on costumes. It was decided that the goddess would wear something white and feminine to give off the ethereal vibe. As you will see in the music video our goddess has long curly hair and where's a delicate, white, floral print dress. Actor 1 and Actor 2 (the girls being watched) were decided to where darker clothing to further differentiate them from the goddess. It was said that they were to have very styles as well as a color pallet. This was so the viewer could see the drastic difference and be able to tell how above the goddess is.  In the end the outfits didn't come out exactly as we wanted but, in the end, we persevered and made it work.
