Critical Creative Reflection
1. My group and I's product mainly shows the "best friend" side of social groups. Like how in the first part of the video the greeted each other with hugs and a smile on their faces. A connection few people have outside of a select few or group. The way the subjects interact with each other also heavily shows this viewpoint. The god represents outsiders of this friendship. Representing how it may feel to be the third around two best friends is exactly what the God is doing. Although there is absolutely no interaction between the god and the two best friends you can tell that the goddess has a sort of empathy for the two girls. It may be seen as odd that the goddess continues to watch over the girls you can tell that the goddess enjoys the bond between the two. The overall execution of this video allows this image to be created. And of course, that image leads to the feeling and question of if the goddess wants to be a part of their bond.
2. It wouldn't be far-fetched to say that many people have experienced the feeling of being watched. A feeling that is very heavily utilized throughout the entirety of the music video. The storyline follows two friends as they explore the mall as a usual social group would. And then you have the god that is watching them from afar for the duration of the music video. In my eyes the god can be interpreted how the viewer wants. For example, the viewer may see themself as the god and relate to them in the way that their watching the people they want to be around from afar as usual. Or in the way that the god is watching over the social group to protect them and keep them safe. So, my product works to relate with the viewer and audience. The main view of the product is that the so-called God feels left out from the lives of the social group. That the god is yearning to be a part of it. But only brave enough to watch from a distance and never actually experience it. Then there's how the audience who can relate to the social group view the product. This point of view is on a completely different side of the spectrum. The audience who relates more to the social group may relate in a way that they can finally see how others view them and their friends. Maybe how people they have rejected from their lives viewed them. Or maybe seeing themselves in another light as far as the way they interact with others and their friends in the presence of others.
3. Starting off this music video I had little experience mainly in storyboards and the filming side of things. Though I had some editing experience that carried over from the about me commercial. Editing has always been something I've dabbled in, so I was able to adjust to the more advanced side quicker. Since I was the editor in my group, it was not my job to delve more into the filming and planning side of things. But I was still able to learn a lot by watching my other teammates do their job. Especially when we were in the actual filming process. For example, by watching my groupmate that did the recording I was able to see how to work the camera. As well as how they were able to accomplish the different angles used. And by communicating through the storyboard process, I was able to see our creative visions come together to create the storyboard. Through the filming process, I also got to see how the actors functioned. Although I wasn't an actor, I still aided in directing them what to do. With this we were able to see what worked for both the directors and the actors. Now, the editing process on the other hand allowed me to progress a lot. This is because editing was my main focus on the project. Through the editing process I learned how different effects could enhance the production of the video. As well as how different transitions could bring out different elements for the video. The main transition I used for each clip being a slow fade into the next clip shown. So overall I would say my production skills are 10 times sharper than they were before starting this project.
4. The creation of a professional music video utilizes many technologies and other things that me and my group don't have access to considering were just high schoolers. So, we had to make good with what we have and make the best of our resources and situation. One of the main tools and technologies we used were phones. The biggest resource of our generation. With phones we were able to do almost everything from communicating between the group to filming the video. I personally also used my phone to edit the music video as editor. This was done by a software I downloaded called cap cut which gave me access to a plethora of filters, effects, and so much more. The entire music video was also filmed off of a phone. Mainly because of the easy access we have to them as well as the fact that there easily portable. Phones also have a decent enough quality that it was perfect to film with for the vibe of our music video. Computers were another big part of my experience through the project for when I did not have access to my phone due to it being broken. With my computer I was able to do my research on different editing software's (although I stuck to cap cut in the end) and see what they had to offer. So, I would also say my group had a decent access to the modern technology that we needed to execute our music video and that overall, we were able to integrate many of those said moder technologies into the creation and execution of the video.
